Treatments for Snoring & OSA
Wearable Devices
Next, you may be instructed to wear a device that could effectively treat snoring and OSA. The first is a Mandibular Advancement Splint , which acts as a healing mouthguard by gently advancing the lower jaw less than a centimetre relative to the upper jaw. This adjustment helps to keep the airway open during sleep, reducing snoring and preventing airway collapse in OSA. The second device is a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine. This device involves wearing a mask connected to a machine that delivers a constant stream of air pressure to keep the breathing passage open throughout the night. CPAP is highly effective in managing OSA by preventing the throat from collapsing during sleep, thus improving breathing and reducing symptoms associated with sleep apnoea.
