Skin Cancer
Skin cancer, particularly in the head and neck area, is quite prevalent in New Zealand. This is largely attributed to extensive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, which is notably intense in the southern hemisphere. Additional factors that heighten the risk of skin cancer include using tanning beds, taking immunosuppressive medications, and having fair skin. Treatment may involve surgical procedures like neck dissections and parotidectomy .
