Open Rhinoplasty

The term "open" in Open Rhinoplasty indicates that the surgeon makes an incision across the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils), allowing them to lift the skin off the underlying structures of the nose for better visibility and access during the surgery. This approach provides the surgeon with a clear view of the nasal anatomy, facilitating more precise and detailed adjustments to the nose's structure. Once the planned changes are made, the new framework re-dressed with the skin. The cut is very carefully sutured to potentially reduce scarring, leading to excellent healing, as well.

Features

  • Provides optimal view for a surgeon for almost perfect results.

  • Ideal for revision rhinoplasty.

  • Easier to perform cartilage grafting techniques like spreader grafts, alar batten grafts (modified, as well), and columellar strut grafts.

  • Allows accurate correction of asymmetries.

  • Versatile approach for complex cases, including significant deformities, revisions, or extensive reshaping for:

    • Dorsal Hump Reduction

    • Tip Refinement

    • Nasal with Adjustment

    • Septum Correction

  • Reduced risk of distortion since nasal skin is lifted rather than being undermined extensively, contributing to better healing and reduced risk of post-operative complications.
