Nasal Allergy
One out of every four people suffers from allergies, which manifest in various forms such as rhinitis, conjunctivitis, dermatitis, urticaria, asthma, and food allergies. Allergy ranks as the third most prevalent chronic condition among children and the fifth across all age groups. Currently, immunotherapy stands as the sole treatment capable of alleviating allergy symptoms without ongoing medication.
A promising treatment for those affected by allergies, is Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT). Extensive evidence now supports its effectiveness in alleviating a variety of symptoms and improving overall quality of life. SLIT boasts an excellent safety profile, surpassing that of the conventional subcutaneous immunotherapy, and eliminates the need for injections.
Cost savings are a notable benefit of SLIT, as it reduces dependence on expensive allergy medications such as nasal steroids, antihistamines, and leukotriene inhibitors, which are typically required long-term. In some cases, SLIT may even allow for complete cessation of allergy medications.
SLIT is also more time-efficient since treatments can be administered at home without the need for clinic visits.
A permanent solution can be achieved by cryotherapy technique which aims at neutralising the neurovascular supply to the parasympathetic system and achieves permanent resolution of nasal congestion, postnasal drip and nasal blockage. At ENT Central we offer cryotherapy, both under LA and GA.
