Modified Alar Batten Graft
Modified Alar Batten Graft is a modification of the alar batten graft which is a small thin piece of cartilage (often harvested from the septum or ear) that is surgically placed along the nasal sidewall to reinforce and support the alar rim. The alar rim refers to the outer edge of the nostril opening. This graft is used to prevent collapse of the nasal sidewall, improve nasal shape and symmetry, and enhance nasal airflow.
Dr Naveed Basheeth uses a modified alar batten graft in combination with lateral crural strut graft with a specialised suturing technique for some rhinoplasty resolutions.
