Low Nasal Bridge
This issue is commonly seen in Asian and African American nasal structures. It typically begins below the line of the eyelashes and can appear broad, impacting the overall symmetry of the face. To address this, surgeons often use cartilage grafts taken from the patient's ear to raise the bridge and elevate its starting point.
We use diced cartilage, autologous fascia/synthetic fascia and shield graft. For quite complex low nasal bridges, autologous cartilage (from ear or rib), laboratory-treated cadaveric rib graft with fascia or synthetic implants are utilised to achieve optimum results. Dr Naveed Basheeth is one of the very few rhinoplasty surgeons who does this, in New Zealand.
Individuals with a flat or low nasal bridge may choose dorsal augmentation to achieve a more defined profile.
