Salivary Gland Disorders
Juvenile Recurrent Parotitis (JRP)
Juvenile Recurrent Parotitis (JRP) is a childhood condition involving recurrent inflammation of the parotid glands that can impact a child’s health and quality of life. Besides conventional approaches to treatment with analgesics, warm compresses, hydration, antibiotics, saliva stimulation and anti-inflammatory medications, sialendoscopy has proven to decrease the recurrence of inflammatory relapses and improve one’s quality of life. JRP-related surgical interventions may be needed for severe or persistent cases.
