Endoscopic Ear Surgery & Related Procedures
Dr Naveed Basheeth & Endoscopic Ear Surgery
The advent of endoscopic ear surgery has significantly improved access to critical middle ear structures allowing better visualisation of normal anatomical structures and related pathology; surgical precision for external and middle ear problems; and extension of surgical approaches to treat diseases in the attic, antrum and epitympanum. What’s more - This technology has facilitated better surgical teaching; and better engagement of Dr Basheeth’s patients and assisting staff, in the understanding of surgical treatment concepts, and the need for post-op management.
Dr Naveed Basheeth is the first surgeon to perform endoscopic ear surgery in Manawatu, New Zealand, and has been performing endoscopic ear surgery routinely, since 2019. This procedure has been used on patients diagnosed with exostoses and keratosis obturans; and as part of canaloplasty, tympanoplasty, ossiculoplasty, attico-antrostomy, epitympanotomy and combined approach tympanoplasty. His patients have benefited greatly from this scarless procedure with no head bandage or related dressing required post-op, in addition to reduced surgical co-morbidity.
