Coblation Tongue Base Reduction
Coblation Tongue Base Reduction or removal of tongue base tissue for the minimally invasive treatment of snoring and/or upper airway obstruction (OSA) in the oropharynx includes Coblation base of tongue channeling, Coblation lingual tonsillectomy and Coblation partial glossectomy.
This method is indicated for patients with a markedly enlarged tongue or a tongue that is shifted backwards causing restricted airflow causing OSA, Macroglossia (big tongue) and Down’s Syndrome. It is performed as a stand-alone outpatient procedure under local anaesthesia or in O.R. under general anaesthesia if done in conjunction with other procedures such as CAUP or UPPP.
