Surgeries for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA)

Advancement Genioplasty

Advancement Genioplasty involves surgically advancing (moving forward) the chin bone (mandible). By repositioning it, the procedure aims to create more space in the upper airway. This can help to prevent the collapse of soft tissues at the back of the throat during sleep, which is a common cause of OSA.

This procedure typically involves making an incision inside the mouth or under the chin to access the chin bone which is then cut and moved forward to the desired position. It is secured in place with plates and screws, allowing it to heal in the new position over time.

Advancement genioplasty with hyoid suspension is a surgical procedure used to treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD).
